Dan Bailey, Executive Board Member and currently serving as Treasurer
Dan was blessed to have a rich heritage of missionaries. His grandparents were amongst the original missionaries to serve with New Tribes Mission as they went to the country of Brazil in 1952. They have served as missionaries there for over 50 years with NTM! They retired from mission work in 2007 and continue to live in Brazil supporting the ongoing efforts with the people group they have ministered to for so many decades.
Dan's parents went to Brazil as missionaries in 1975 and are currently still serving there.
Dan attended a missionary boarding school in central Brazil where he graduated from high school in 1990. Upon graduating high school he attended New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, Wisconsin. After graduating from NTM Bible Institute in spring of 1993, he moved to Tennessee to attend Tennessee Technological University where he received his B.S. in Secondary Education in May 2000.
He currently resides in Cookeville, Tennessee where he worked as a Technology Education Teacher at Avery Trace Middle School for six years. He is a certified Biology and Technology teacher and has pursued graduate education.
In the summer of 2006, Dan quit teaching to pursue full time the founding of Highland Rim Academy , a Christian school which has a strong emphasis in the classical teaching approach. He is currently in his second year as Principal of the school.
He has also served in several churches as a volunteer for youth and college ministries and has been actively involved in teaching Sunday school and discipleship classes for more than 12 years. Dan led a mission team from his church to the Amazon jungle in 2005 to construct housing for missionaries working interior. He has also worked at a couple of summer Christian youth camps in various states and he served as the campus sponsor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes ministry while teaching at Avery Trace Middle School. While being an active member in his church, Dan has always had a desire for missions and continues to pray as to how God will personally use him in missions and as to how he might impact the world for Christ. He continues to revisit the foreign field and he spent a year in Brazil as an itinerate missionary, supporting ongoing projects from a couple of different mission boards.
Dan brings a wealth of missions experience, Christian heritage and active Christian leadership to Beyond Cultures International.
